As the winner of our Play With Fire Event, Daniel Lopez from San Bernadino, CA, has won $50,000! On August 23, the four finalists and their guests were flown into Orlando to stay at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge for a 3-night stay with the trip culminating in the Play With Fire Event. The day started for the finalists and their guests with breakfast with Michael Breed, host of The Golf Fix, followed by a warm-up at the driving range where Michael gave a few tips and helped break the tension before the big moment.
The Long Drive Contest took place at Bay Hill Club & Lodge where each contestant was given a Callaway Big Bertha Diablo driver and three Callaway balls to try for the longest drive. Daniel Lopez was the fourth to drive and won the contest by driving 6 yards longer than the best competitor. Even more amazing than winning the $50,000 is that Daniel has only been playing golf for three months. Not only is he $50,000 richer, but he will also be returning to Orlando next March to play in the Official 2010 Arnold Palmer Invitational Pro-Am Presented by MasterCard.
The other three finalists, Alfred Garza, Milton Cooper and Doug Siewert, and their guests did not walk away empty handed. Along with their trip to Orlando they each received $500 spending cash, a Golf Channel prize pack, and a round of golf at Celebration Golf Club.
