We have installed a sub air system. (low spin with long irons into hard greens sux)

We built new tees this year. ( I have never seen one built closer to the green than the old one)

And the number one thing you hate to here

We brought Rees Jones in to fix our course.
(push the tees back, push the greens up and dig the bunkers deep. I fixed it that will be 12 million dollars.)

it will be interesting to see if the groove change next year will have a positive affect on the better ball stikers even if they hit it shorter. will a well struck 6 iron from the fairway react better than a flying 9 iron from the rough? butch harmon told me that one of his younger players is really struggling with the "new" irons because he grew up in the "square grove" era. jay haas told me years ago that there are 3 things that short hitters CAN'T be, crooked off the tee a bad putter and a stupid player. brian will do just fine i bet.

As long as they keep some traditonal courses on the rota I think Brian will do fine. Courses like Colonial, Harbour Town, Westchester, and Riviera allow the straight hitter to compete. Just tell him to add another hybrid like Stricker!

You and Brian are considered to be a dynamic duo by Elisa Gaudet.

One year at the Skins game I watched VJ draw a gap wedge around a tree from a wet lie in short rough, so if you take that shot away from him then it has to help the shorter, accurate player IMO. I guess it depends how far the player hits that 6 or 9 iron. Personally I would rather be sitting in centre the fairway from 180 yards than in the junk from 140 as I can control the ball. For a guy like Brian he's probably pin high almost every time from this distance so he just has let his putter work it's magic.

looking forward to seeing how it all shakes out. i think its going to bother some of the younger players who never played with these grooves. i already have a couple vokey wedges with the "new" grooves and there is a big difference. the shots around the greens will be much harder.

It's funny, as I reply to your post they have an ad for their new "spin milled " wedges just to my right! Mine are 4 years old and I don't think I want the new ones you have zito. The game is hard enough as it is. :0)

even little 30-40 yard shots that you could spin with the spin milled wedges change dramatically. i practice with both all the time (bored!!) and there is a noticeable difference.

Wow. Zito, do you know if they will ban the old grooves in USGA events?
