I really don't understand why Golf Channel feels it's necessary to continually interrupt coverage of a PGA tournament with ads for their own shows, especially Big Break. Okay, maybe once or twice an hour; but every five minutes! I mean they're not earning any money from an outside sponsor. All they do by such a move is to alienate their viewers. If maybe some of the big names were vying for a title, I might put up with the ads; but when it's just the second rank of players, I'll find something else to do -- like watch paint dry!

This is exactly the reason that I did not watch the coverage today.

they "ruin" every tournament with this promotion strategy. It's been said on this board a number of times... it's clear the people that run programming and promotions at the golf channel NEVER watch their own network. If they did they wouldn't be able to stomach it either.

the Golf channel has a set number of slots set aside for commercial or promo's. the number stays the same no matter what. If they sell out then you see more commercial spots if they don't you see more promo's.

do you work in the promotions/programming dept at the channel? If so could you tell them NOT to run so many of the same promos in EVERY commercial break?

I work for a company that owns television stations. I am sure there is no intent on running the same promo in the same break. funny thing is most people don't have thousands of people watching every mistake. the bottom line is the job of a television station is to play commercials. The goal is to play those commercials for as many people as possible. promos help in that goal.
