I was very disappointed with Bernhard's answer to the Thursday or Friday question on the world series. His response was basically that he had no interest in baseball. Normally world class athletes have great respect for athletes of other sports. May be that he doesn't understand baseball in that he is from Germany, but that is not an excuse to just blow it off. When is the last time you heard of a sports figure outside of golf just blowing golf off?

I don't see a problem with him being honest when answering the question. He doesn't care about baseball, so what? I have never cared for tennis, or soccer, or hockey and if I was a world class golfer, I wouldn't pretend that I did.

I agree with Al in post #2. I bet 95% of US Born PGA Tour players - if asked - would have a similar response regarding European soccer. And I'd be right with them on that.

Agreed.

However, had...oops, Bernhard denied his love of futbol, cricket and rugby, well, at the very least, he should have been raked over live coals; if still alive, he should have been then thrown to the wolves.

I can understand it. My room mate at the time and I took a German friend to a Dodger game one time.

Everythng about baseball is intuitive to Americans, but it was all completely foreign to this guy. For the first couple of innings we had to answer a torrent of questions. Then he lost interest and only wanted to drink beer, eat and check out the babes who were everywhere at the game.
