Thanks Sharky et al. I have been concentrating on this each time out, and at the range. I have noted a significant increase in fairways hit. Which in turn has helped with gir's. Simply put, on the downswing I have worked on keeping my head behind the ball at impact. Sounds easy enough, but for myself, it is taking a lot of work at getting and maintaining any kind of consistency. I have not changed where I look at the ball, ( lower right quarter) just on keeping my head behind the ball at impact. The other day I played 9, and hit 6/7 fairways with a 3wd, and driver. Spectacular for me!
On another note, I've noticed with my irons, I'm getting the same distance, but with less effort. I have got into a groove, good or bad I don't know, of feeling the right arm/elbow on or at my right hip coming into impact. It feels great! A have on occasion hit a shank, and I assume it is because instead of turning thru the shot, I slide my hips on those? Comments or suggestions welcome.

Have you considered what else is going on while you are keeping your head behind the ball ... like your arms flying past your nose.

This age old, very correct advise is a perfect example of how doing one thing right causes other things to also be right. Keeping your head behind the ball is a critical part of timing the foreward swing. Just past impact, in the early followthru, a straight line relationship develops between your nose, your hands and the clubhead. This relationship indicates the body and arms have coordinated to produce a powerful, accurate swing.

If the hands "break" the line, getting ahead of your nose and clubhead, look for the ball in the right hand TR Double EEs. If the clubhead gets ahead of a line between your nose and hands, then look for the ball in the left hand trees.

This straight line relationship can be used as a training device. Some people use an Impact Bag (bag filled with rags) to simulate this position.

Looking at a specific point on the ball may be having a positive effect. My ultimate goal is to get the swing down to just looking at the ball and hitting it with a clear, clean mind.

Just a couple of ideas!

My teacher tells me to get your head behind the ball and leave it there during contact. Pulling your head through with the swing will result in pulls.
